Quote: yes that part I know. would it work in the same way as far as trying to get to a auto sexing bird by breeding the silver ameraucana hens to creme leg bar roosters? then breeding the offspring back to a legbar?
Many Marans have spots on the eggs also. My Wellies didn't always have spots from the same hen either. I've seen lots of speckled OE. I think it's a hit and miss thing? My question regarding using Welsummers x a blue egger (americauna, CL, ect.) was how to make a green egg with spots. May I make it again?
I have had 2 crosses make olive eggs with spots. First were my Wellie x Am cross. (First pic) and my Isbar x FBCM cross. (Second pic). The spots on the eggs are darker and more plentiful at the beginning of the laying cycle and then taper off the longer the laying cycle. The spots do not happen on every egg laid, but happen more often than not.My question regarding using Welsummers x a blue egger (americauna, CL, ect.) was how to make a green egg with spots. May I make it again?
Not for me but farmhand was interested in auto sexed blue egg layers so I figured it would be similar to my project except mine is olive eggersQuote:
yes it will work, you will also create sexlinks, the males will hatch with Silver chipmunk down and the females with gold chipmunk down.. question? are you trying to achieve something with this cross? pea comb Legbars? or autosxing Ameraucanas?
