They are not too bad for temperment. The Cream Legbar calms them down. They are good layers of extra large eggs. They do not eat much either.How is their temperament? Lay rate? Egg color?
One of the reasons they are great for my area is their heat tolerance. They do very will in the 100 plus days of summer here. The record low in woodland was 19 in 1990. Last winter it got all the way down to 27 one morning. I thought I was going to freeze to death....Very attractive. Unfortunately they'd end up looking dubbed here after the first winter froze their combs.![]()
Next question: where can I get some???
thanks!I am going to have OEs from Arkansas blues x Partridge Penedesencas. The green should be darker with that cross.
@Hangtown Farms
might be working with a crele pene crosses with silver AMs. They are very similar.
Mine came from @juststruttin
Last year we had several days of 8 degrees, WAY too cold for this part of Oregon. We are already having frozen water issues this year. Maybe when I'm in Hawai`i (60-80 degree range for the most part) I could consider huge combs! I find my one CCL hen to be just a sweetheart, love her temperament. Of course the Marans are calm also, so I expect nothing less from the OE crosses. They seem to be very hearty chicks.They are not too bad for temperment. The Cream Legbar calms them down.
