there are green egg layers with straight combs.

I guess the big egg is a double yolker?

Thanks....yes, but these ladies came from Welsummer x EE/amberlink cross...no straight combed blue layer in their background, I don't think.

This is their mama, hatched form a darker brown egg sired by an EE.

what a beauty!

cross breeds always are a surprise. that is the part I love about them. no rules, just lucky guesses if at all.

My avatar laid this gray egg...her daughter who hatched from this egg (above)and looks just like her mother laid her first egg.

I have just found a purple egg, 1st laid by NN pullet

I wanted to move her to the big, non breeding coop but now she will go to my araucana boy! I hope to get some grey eggs some time in the future.

I have an EE hen and a CCL hen...I have been getting these eggs for a month now but I dont know who is laying them. Sometimes they are deeper in color, sometimes roundish, sometimes oily looking instead of chalky. Can anyone tell me which hen might have laid them...I just hatched out some from a miracle batch (my cat dump incubator post)....3 to be exact, 2 have chipmunk stripe and heavy eye liner...the other chick is yellow with a bit of brown marks. All 3 came from the same birds as these eggs in the pic and the rooster I had with the hens was a copper maran, I just dont know which hen they came from and if these babies will lay Olive eggs???

I had some OEs I hatched this spring but sold them all and butchered the roos. Hoping I can get more. I crossed a Welsummer over my EE's I did keep on of his sons that is half Australorp. Do u think I could get OEs from him too??

I bought some olive eggers this summer and all four turned out to be roos.I'm planning on keeping one to see if i can produce some myself but what should I pair him with?
