The Olive-Egger thread!

I would think that a Wellsummer/Americana or EE cross could produce a spotted green egg. One of Yashar's rare South American breeds produce green eggs in several shades, much greener (less blue-green) than most EE's. I would have to go look it up for the right one.
I pm'd him a few days ago actually. I would LOVE some of his birds!! Hoping he answers me

I would think the same thing too...and if I could have roosters I would TOTALLY be trying to find out! But alas, I bought a house too close to town.

I get a range of color. I have blue/green laying EE's and I have the BCM. I mixed a splash maran roo over all my blue/green egg girls. I hatched them out. Their offspring All laid olive, I put a OE roo from that mix over everyone else. Their offspring threw out odd green's, spotted greens and med brown egg layers. By fall I should know what egg color I get from that mix. I'm hoping for more light green with brown spots. They look wild.

Beautiful eggs!!

Is anyone here (and lives in the North East) selling eggs from either an Ameraucana hen or OE hen that is being covered by a Welsummer roo that came from a speckled egg?

Or an OE hen covered by an OE roo?

Or if anyone has other project eggs they'd like help hatching out, pm me! I'll buy 'em. I just need some green shades in my basket!!

By "everyone else" do you mean the EE hens or the OE hens? I absolutely love those speckled ones!!!!
I put my OE rooster over all my hens. Which include bearded and non bearded EE's, BCM, and my 1 SL giant cochin. That is what my currant 2 broody hens are sitting on. All colors of eggs. The 4 earlier batches this year where all green eggs. OE X EE. The mixed batches are just to see if the OE X BCM throw out dark olive offspring. Odds are any hens I get out of the 5 BCM eggs will be chocolate. But I have a small chance and nothing better to do with my chickens ;-)
