The Olive-Egger thread!

If they do not they are not breeding Ameraucanas.

I should restate that - if they have any straight comb chicks, the parent stock were not Ameraucanas.

I don't think that is necessarily true. Most chicks will get the pea comb from the Ameraucana, while some chicks could possibly get the straight comb from the Marans. But I have never raised Amerauncana so I don't know first hand what happens when they are bred with other breeds.
You can get straight combed crosses. When I breed my Penedesenca rooster and ameraucana or U of A hens I get 50 / 50 straight and pea combed. If they send straight combed chicks they could not tell you they would be olive eggers. I had a few Barnevelder x ameraucana straight combs lay olive but that is not the norm

Just to add, Cream Legbars did come from Auarcana to get the blue egg shell Gene. The guy that bred them to become CLs was a Breed making Wizard!

neat!
He did a lot of work to separate the Pea comb from the Blue egg shell Gene. The egg color, size and productivity of Cream Legbars is amazing too. Crossing them with Crele Penedesenca makes a very productive Olive Egg layer too.

source http://www.ias.ac.in/jarch/jgenet/48/327.pdf the Chilean Stock were Creasted(Araucana are not Creasted, had Rump and lacked PeaCombs) so yeah there were not Araucanas nor Ameraucanas, these were Chelian stock, just like many south american and Central American stock that Lay blue eggs and are single combed
