The rooster was a F3 OE and hens were BC Marens and a BR. He obviously did not have the gene for blue, or maybe only one copy.Sill, did you get those using Easter Eggers, or were they pure Ameracauna's? By what I've read here it looks like eggs produced by 1st generation OE hens made by crossing a brown layer and a true Ameracauna should never be brown. Sound right to everyone? However, throwing an EE in there sure can make things interesting! Has anyone gotten the gray color from a true Ameracauna cross with no EE? Really appreciate everyone's input, thanks!

Okay so here's the thing...this F2 Oliver hatched March 2 and since the 'V' was not defined like a pullet's should be I thought roo, right? Well...at 16 weeks old and no comb to speak of I'm thinkingmaybe pullet. Any thoughts on this?
He/she is such a sweetie. Also, I noticed white ear patches on her/him.
My very first olive eggs are hatching this very moment. Two have pipped and hopefully will out of their shells soon. I can't wait to see what these chicks look like. I had no idea if they were fertile and/or developing or not. Candling reveals nothing since the shell is so dark. Now I'm thinking I should breed these chicks back to a BCM to get even darker eggs??????
Here's the basket of eggs I just took to incubator.
