The Olive-Egger thread!

Thank you very much for the explanation Ron. I was really hoping that at least a portion of their offspring would lay blue/green. Fascinating stuff... I'll cull and replace these two girls in the near future.

Cheers,
dScott
Try to find a true Ameraucana breeder or use Crested Cream Legbars for the blue genes. Most CCLs and True from a breeder Ameraucana have double blue egg shell genes.

Ron,
Thank you again!
I do know of a local-ish source of CCL pullets/eggs. I'll ask around as to other options with the intent of having chicks on hand for late Winter or early Spring.

Her first olive egg:

Her mother was an EE and her father a Marans. I've been impatiently waiting for this first egg for 6 months!

Congrats! I'm waiting for the first egg from my lavender F1 OE (Am X Marans) I hatched from DMRIPPY's eggs. The rest of my F1 OEs are single comb and young yet.

Thank you! How old is your girl? Can't wait to see egg pics! Mine is lavender/blue, too, she has a tiny bit of copper showing through on the neck. I will try and snap a photo of her soon :)
