The Olive-Egger thread!

Ear I thought??? Either way... I wondered if there was a correlation between ear or ear lobe color and egg color.

Earlobe color has some correlation.

Red ear lobes usually mean brown eggs,
White ear lobes usually mean white eggs.
But that has more to do with coating of egg, not the shell color.

As far as I know there is no correlation between ear lobes and green/blue eggs.

But like Ron said pea combs and blue egg shell genes has some correlation...but no guarantee.

Shellie

I'll note though, physically, it appears Shellie has a main set of peas, but what looks like it could be 1 small set of peas on each side, however, after looking closely to Lucy, she has an evident indent in her comb. I know that means something, I just can't remember what.

Pics aren't really clear enough for me to see.
3 rows of peas usually means cockerel, 1 row of peas usually mean pullet.
But modified pea combs, often present in EE's because of crosses with straight or other combed birds, can be a crap shoot.

I'm rolling with the modified pea combs. Shellie's is a prominent 1 row of peas, but then again, Lucy has that indent. Neither are red in color, and at 2 months old now, my EE roo looked like a roo! I'll see if I can find a picture of him.
