The Olive-Egger thread!

Oh good ron, I should get a couple of good ones.. I would like to put 4 in the bator. Where the rooster is an EE, maybe I'll get that OE! Once the baby girl grows up that will hatch. Watch, I'll get all boys. :/

It is possible--you are only getting eggs from one pullet and she determines gender. Some pullets\hens will lay mostly one or the other more.

I have some huge green eggs I am hatching for a gal (4) in my incubator. I put them in on Fri 22 last month and expected them to hatch on Sat. but got my first pip. The hen must have sat on this egg before I got it. These are not olive, but they are green. not from my chickens but from hers.

And that...would be girls! Yep!

I'll take green at this point. These are very pretty!

Actually, no it could be either depending on what the hen lays. The ovum is either male of female from the day the hen hatches. So you could get mostly males or you could get mostly females or a mix, which is normal.

The closest I have to a pink/plum egg is laid by a wheaten Marans. It does not look like a traditional Marans egg, -much lighter, and with lots of bloom. And while I was hoping for Marans eggs at the time, I really like this color because it is different.
As long as my photo does not post upside down, it is the second from the left on the top row:
