The Olive-Egger thread!

I had some OEs I hatched this spring but sold them all and butchered the roos. Hoping I can get more. I crossed a Welsummer over my EE's I did keep on of his sons that is half Australorp. Do u think I could get OEs from him too??

I don't know that. but they both are pretty (girl and roo)!

This description is confusing.

I bought some olive eggers this summer and all four turned out to be roos.I'm planning on keeping one to see if i can produce some myself but what should I pair him with?
You could pair him with a blue egg layer or a dark brown egg layer....and have a 25% chance of getting an OE

Some of my olive eggs look decidedly gray in certain lights.

If you want a darker olive cross with a marans or for slightly paler olive, welsummers. I hope this helps

Gray is a bloom color on a white shell base..start reading here.

I found different posts about getting gray eggs. they all say purple/blue layers. btw purple eggs have white shell base.

if you know any other way to get gray eggs please let us know. we are here to learn.
