The biggest chick has red coming in all over his back- think that's from the marans. I'll definately keep you posted

Yes probably from the marans back ground..If it is black it will most likely look similar to a black copper marans hopefully with a pea comb which usually associates with blue or now green eggs.

The dog chewed my camera cable and I couldn't load pics when that auction ran. I ran the auction with no pics, the buyer just had to take my word for it, LOL. I would love to have posted the pic with the auction, but my replacement cable didn't come until a couple days ago. The buyer was STOKED when she got her eggs, better that than the other way around.

That dark brick colored one is from a Wade Gene/Ron Presley lines copper black marans. The deep olive egg is from a black pea combed hen (unknown marans x Ameraucanax barred rock hen from a feed store bin, the wonderful foundation hen of my barred olive egger line)

The blue eggs are from a white Ameraucana hen in with my splash roo.

The next egg is from lavender x lavender orpingtons, both light phase, silvery colored parents.

Copper Black Marans... as stated above.

The light eggs are from my Bev Davis pen of copper blacks, a splash hen in with a blue roo.

The last row were mottled javas.


It was fun to put together a set of my most extreme colored birds. Some were extreme colored eggs, some were extreme colored plumage. She bought two half dozens and I threw in the third. Hope she gets a good hatch!

The hovabator I use is only $45 at the feed store... just saying... if you are ever down this way you could pick up ain incubator cheap and some eggs....

Olive Egger F2 crosses for 9 chicks

single combed 3

single black barred cockerel, double black barred cockerel, blue pullet

Pea combed 6

pullets blue, blue with some barring, black, (not pictured black)
cockerels-blue with some barring, black barred

so now we wait to see egg color!!

I think the downside of crossing OE to OE is you get both comb types. Beards and muffs have mostly been retained, but
are smaller than F1 if present. From this hatch there are 3 chances at getting an Olive Egger. add shipping, it could be depressing if you were really set on OE
The upside is if you didnt have a lot of chickens you would get lots of colors and egg colors.

upside-when space and feed bills are on your mind its good to know. OE cockerels eat alot and I thought they were tricky to sex like EE's can be.
