The Olive-Egger thread!

Oh wow let us know how they hatch, I sure hope they can break through those eggs. And if you ever do move her back with the Ameraucana, I would so be interested.

newlyweds, depending on what I get with this hatch, I may do that. I absolutely love blue colored chickens, and my hope is that the babies out of this cross will be blue with BIG muffs/beards. Gotta love those muffs/beards!!

I know what you mean! Sadly, I have some high-dollar Jersey Giant hatching eggs in with them, and I'm more excited about the darn olive eggers! HA!

I know I know, I have 11 OE in my bator now along with marans, blue ameracuanas and various others 48 total:eek: And I am so excited about my OE mostly from BYC cottagegarden.

Be sure to keep us updated on the hatch!

I have a Maran who lays such a thick shell that I can not see into it at all even with the brightest light. The shells are tuff but the chicks seem to manage just fine for the most part, some zip but take so long they start to dry out but others pip and zip with amazing speed so I think you will do fine. it will be a reall surprise for you when they hatch that is kinda cool

do you know what color you get if you breed olive egger back to a marans?

And green eggs still do have more substance to the shell than white eggs.

If your eggs are that green on the inside, wow, send her to me. . . I'd love to work some things out on getting a GREEN egg, and the inside of a shell always tells you the quality and true color of the egg the hen laid.
