The Olive-Egger thread!

Oooooh, turquose would be pretty! Or maybe I'll get purple!

Who knows, but that's what makes it fun!

Okay, so speaking of egg color - I have to get some pics of my girl that lays the funky eggs. Her last several eggs have been much less funky, unfortunately, but she seems to have settled on a very nice DARK olive color. It's really gorgeous alongside the darker Marans eggs and the lighter green EE eggs!

My Black Cooper roo is mating with my Americauna, so I am collecting eggs to hatch. I really want an olive egger! Is there any special hatching with these eggs? I know the Marans were a little harder to hatch.

I have 8 Olive Eggers in the incubator, they're due June first!

Here's the parents, the father, a Blue Birchen Marans.

The mother was two different "Lemon Blue" EEs.

Does anybody have any idea what I should expect these chicks to look like? Do you think I'll get some blues? What about egg color? I haven't seen many other Marans crosses other than BCM, so I'm kind of excited to see what comes out of the egg with the Blue Birchen as the father!

Jeremy, they are beautiful! I would imagine your will get some blues in your cross. Maybe some splashes too. Since your hen is not completely blue, it's hard to tell. I look forward to seeing the babies!

Did you breed your EE? If so what did you breed to get her? Her coloring is really pretty.

Future Olive eggers I think..lol
Daddy is a Easter egger. The Mommas are Cuckoo Marans, Buff Orpington, and Easter Egger. Not sure which chick had which Mom lol I don't think any were the Cochin who hatched them as they don't have feathered feet.
I think the one with the white spot on the head is 1/2 CM. There is one missing from the pic that looks like a chipmunk I am pretty sure that is has a EE mom

I'll be getting better pictures of them this week to try to figure out who is who.

Sorry I've been so bad about not getting these pics! Had a major medical emergency with one of our dogs last week, and all I've been thinking about is getting her back to good health.

SG - what a beautiful pic of a hen & her babies!

Jeremy, I think those babies will be GORGEOUS!
