No- olive eggs come from a parent with the blue egg gene and the "paint" brown egg gene- like from a marans, welsummer, penedesenca, etc. You can use a green-egger to make olive eggers if you have one of the dark egg breeds.

Ohh, OK.
Thanks!
I have green-eggers then, because I crossed a Splash Cochin (cream colored eggs) with a black Ameraucana (bluecolored eggs), and got green colored eggs. Just wanted to make sure so I wasn't posting pictures of green-laying chickens on a olive-laying chicken thread.
I have only one Olive egger, Miss Olive. I have lots of chickens, and she has consistently been my best layer. Here is her egg today, still very dark, and she is now a year old .... top left corner. She came from Wynette's eggs, and she is a beautiful blue girl.
Wow, Kathy - she sure HAS kept her egg color! The olive eggers seem to be awesome layers, for sure!
I'm uber excited about one that just started up this past weekend - she's a completely different breeding than my girls in the past have been, and I was really hoping for a true olive, not the brownish olive that I'd been getting. Well....her first 2 eggs are definitely olive! I'm so excited - they are medium olive, which "should" mean that, bred to my Marans roo, the offspring should lay a nice, dark OLIVE! YIPPEE!!! I'll get some pics posted of her eggs soon!
And it is GORGEOUS. I recall seeing you post her first egg a while ago, yes? And it was super-uber dark olive, yes? That egg is what inspired me into getting F2 and F3 Olive Eggers with super dark eggs.

I have Miss Olive penned with Ameraucanas now, like we talked about. I think I will throw this week's eggs in the bator!
You have the greatest Olive Eggers! I just gotta get some more from you! They are just the prettiest birds, besides being great layers! I know you have to work hard on them, cuz you sure produce beauties!
