I've got some sage-eggers too. Every once in a while I'll get a super dark green one,. then it's back to sage.

Hm, it sounds like she's just run out of her Marans "paint" then, maybe? After she molts and her production slows down (or stops), when she does start laying again you should expect the eggs to be back to their normal olive color.
Do you have pictures of the eggs she initially laid?
Here is todays egg and you can see yesterdays beside it, it is much darker. (All the green ones are from her, the darkest is the oldest and then the lightest is today's) We only have two hens and the other is a dc, she laid the brown eggs) So I know whos is who lol
You can see the speckles.
Here is one of the first eggs we got from her.

Wow very pretty...I love it!
No matter what I do, I can not get an accurate picture of the green in my eggs. My camera makes them look light and gray. Weird. I set them on a pillow that is the actual perfect shade of olive...the pillow looks gray!
One of them has the coolest hint of yellow (which I wanted in my egg rainbow)...can I share it with ya'll so you can see it? Well, no, it looks gray!! Grrr.

I like the yellow-green egg! You can make out the yellow hue, even with the grayish photo.
I'm going to try hatching some olive eggers this April (my first hatch!
). I'm crossing an EE roo with Welsummer hens, but had thought about trying my speckled sussex hen as well, since her eggs have a yellowish hue.
Is is that simple, - that the blue/green color will basically overlay whatever color egg you now have? Or will an EE x sussex just look like a regular EE egg?
I know that the pea-combed offspring are mostly likely to lay an olive egg. So what if I cross my pea-combed EE roo with my pea-combed light Brahma: wouldn't I get a higher percentage of pea combs? I realize the darker colored Welsummer eggs will yield a truer olive color, but I'm curious about what will happen when I cross other breeds.
