The Olive-Egger thread!

Really interesting color on your OE's! The Marans eggs appear the color of beets on my laptop. I want them!

Thank you. I used the same BCMs to get my flock of Olive Eggers. My BCMs lay a very dark reddish brown egg - not so much the chocolate brown I see others post. My Olive Eggers lay a very dark olive green egg with that same reddish brown coating on the top so they appear to have a copper sheen to them. My BCM eggs have won both egg shows that they've been entered in. I do take orders for both so just PM me if you are interested. With Spring and laying season finally upon us, I'm super busy and not on BYC very often but I do check my messages.

Thanks Wynette - I think we bred our lines pretty much the same way. I used pure BCM roos to breed back to every olive egg laying hen. Only now in my fourth-fifth generation am I breeding them to Olive Egger roos because I don't want the eggs to get any darker. It'll be interesting to see what this next generation lays - so Jeremy - keep me posted. Those are the first eggs from my latest breeding pen which does not have a pure BCM roo but has three roos from 3rd generation olive eggers. I want to see what those chicks grow up to look like and what color eggs they lay.

Hi,
Anyone have any Olive eggers chicks/ pullets, in the bay area? I had two, and one of mine died. I have some new chicks I am raising and I would love add an Olive egger!

I have some eggs, but not chicks. I have 3 pure Ameraucana's covered by a welsummer rooster. And a pure ameraucana and 3 1st generation olive egger girls over a multiple generation olive egger rooster.

Hi all,

I have 2 EE laying olive currently. A fellow BYC'r local to me is hatching 8 olive eggs and I am getting a roo and 1 or 2 hens. Then she will get eggs from them to hatch. Question is should the olive Roo over olive laying hens produce more olive layers? I have 3 RIR roo's also, one is a deep mahogany that came from a dark reddish brown egg.

Looking forward to starting this project.

My Olive Eggers that I hatched from RUTH, have finally started laying.
