Hi all! I'm new to Olive Eggers and just started breeding my Cuckoo Marans roo to my Easter egger hens. I have heard that you can sex the chicks.... is this true or not? have any of you had this experience? I know the Cuckoo Marans are males if they have the white spot on the head....if the cross chicks have it does that mean they are roos also?
Thanks in advance!

Yay! I almost posted in the EE thread but thoguht I should check quick for an OE thread and I found it!

Here's my first 2 Olive Eggs, from one of my Black hens. I have 4 of them but just one is laying so far. I am excited to see if the other girls lay olive eggs or different colored eggs

MM - okay, that pic of your blue/copper cockerel all stretched out - that is HILARIOUS! Reminds me of a roadrunner!

Bleenie - VERY pretty eggies! LOVIN' that speckly one!

Those are beautiful eggs, Bleenie.

I only have one OE hen laying, she's the mother of the other little black OE youngsters and these are all her eggs...

As you can see, the amount of brown paint she has can vary widely.

Here is one of my Girls, I won't call them all OE's yet since I don't know what color all their eggs are yet, lol. She was young here but I haven't taken pictures in quite a while. The Roo, "Arthur" has become quite the noisy ladies man recently and has gotten a lot of color on him. I really need a new picture of him! One of the girls also has a teeny single comb, but I assume that's probably not abnormal?.... I probably would have kept all 10 pullets in the bunch if i knew their eggs were gonna be so pretty

This girl has a smaller beard, one of the others looks like she has a mountain man beard!
