I have not been on this thread for a while. I really enjoy looking at everyone's pictures.
My favorite rooster is an Olive Egger (Welsummer roo x Lavender Araucana hen). He is the only one of my roosters that my Guineas will not mess with (that's why he still has his tail feathers).

Thank you it defintely looks more greenish in certain light and more brownish in another type of light. Its so wierd. She is laying them consistantly. I used a super dark egg gened roo who hatched from a egg like my avatar and mated with my blue ameraucana hen then back to super dark marans gened roo. I think it was a double dose of too dark LOL. I suprised she has a peacomb must be just enough blue/green gene in her. It was an interesting experiement though.
Another OE girl (sister of the one discussed above) from the same mating lays a real dark olive as well but it is more green than brown.

Does anyone have any hatchings eggs to sell? I am looking for Marans crossed with Ameraucanas and trying to keep with Black Copper Marans crossed with BBS Ameraucanas or something similar?

I have 2 hens from Alicefelldown. Only one has started laying, and while her egg is not olive, it is a very dark brown, like a marans. I don't have a marans myself, so I was quite pleased to get this color. The hen is a workhorse, too, laying almost daily.

Chicken math. LOL! I won't mind a dark colored egg either, they are always a plus. I have ameraucanas and if I get dark layers I am sure I will have an extra roo I can use for another generation of Olive Eggers
