The Olive-Egger thread!

mine is only a backyard project.what rooster would you think to use, knowing all along that there's no way to predict for certain what one would get

Right now I have my Olive Eggers in with a Splash Marans roo, I may soon toss them in with an Ameraucana maybe a lavender.... there is another project. Lav Olive Eggers....

Anyway... I would try both just to see what the difference is in person and then I will decide on what color I like best. Maybe Olive Eggers to Olive Eggers will be best.

I have a very nice BR rooster thats 7 months old that i really want to keep so I think I will try it and worst thing that could happen would be the time spent waiting on the outcome.I have a cinnamon queen rooster that I have with my EE hens now just to see what happens.I would like, over time,to come up with BR olive eggers. They are really neat

Cuckoo Marans and Barred EE might get you there really quickly. Are you in TN?

north central ky.If I was in henry co. tn. I wouldnt have time to be on here, the fish are biting

Haha... cuz I have 2 Barred EE roos. Both have pea combs and the roo was a Lav Am and the moms? I am thinking it must have been a California white since they are barred, but she also had Cuckoo Marans and I had some really dark eggs so they would get you a good start in the barred olive egger direction. BUT you are still a long way away. I have them on CL and if they don't sell soon they are going to be processed this weekend or next. Pretty feathers for fly fishing... if nothing else.

The two things I want to get this year are the olive eggers and lavender am. I chose the olive eggers first because I could get everything I needed close to home. I do not like the way they ship chickens so when I get to the lavenders I will find some that I can pick up.I will just make it a vacation to go get them

Just let me know. I have some 2nd gen Olive Eggers in the bator now. May mate up my barred EE and barred Olive Egger/lav split roo when she starts laying.

So I have a few questions that may or may not have been answered (I read to page 16 and my head started hurting). So if you breed an EE to a dark egg layer (I will just use a Marans as an example to simplify things), will all the offspring lay olive eggs, or just some? And in my reading on here there was talk about only breeding with the ones with pea combs, because they have the blue egg genes, and the straight comb ones do not. So does that meen the chicks from breeding EE to Marans that only the ones with rose combs with lay olive eggs, or is this just refering to breeding from the offspring of EEXMarans?
