My chick's paternal grandfather comes from a light-coloured egg line, his grandmother a dark brown line, so his father hatched from a nice dark brown egg. He is a barnevelder, so nowhere near as dark as a marans, but it was a lovely coffee colour. This is why I'm not sure the chick will produce nice eggs or not, as that light-colour line might have an impact.
His mother is an araucana, but she doesn't lay perfect sky-blue eggs, so I'm hoping that will help towards the green.
After all this, it'll be a cockerel! I only really popped the egg in the incubator as a test to see if my white hen is dominant white, but it looks like I picked the wrong egg as it's from my black-red. Doh!
