The peas are out of their pen

The peas have officially become a part of the flocks now , they no longer roost in their pen, instead they roost with the guines don't know how they get any sleep.
I have learned that peas have pretty good night vision, the other night 2 were roosting on my conex box beside the garden, an hour later i went out to check on them and they had flown back with the rest of the peas .
I got to see them fly across the pasture yesterday, such a beautiful site.

I love that first picture the sky is so pretty and the grass looks nice too. I like the group you have free-ranging I think it is a great size group and I know your peacock loves to have so many peahens! I am glad they are finally a part of the flock without any trouble. That must have been fun to see those 5 peas flying across the pasture, I am sure the white peahen was really spectacular to watch!

have new peas, my first peas were very curious ,funny how they know their own kind so quickly ,they had not been in the pen for 5 minutes when they were met by the welcoming comity .

Last night the peas slept on top of the porch and we had a severe thunder storm with marble size hail ,there was nothing i could do for them or the guineas, but this morning all was fine, sure seems like that would have hurt

Yikes good thing the peas are okay. We were rainy all night and most of today so I was wondering if my peafowl slept on their outside perch or their indoor one.

That new peacock's tail is just so interesting looking. Amazing how young he is and he already has a train!

Yea we got a sever thunderstorms with marble size hale and the peas were roosting out in the open on the roof of my home,i felt bad for them and the guines.

Yesterday evening my daughters little weiner dog scared them and the fly off into the trees way off in the danger zone.
At first i was worried, then i questioned weather this freerange thing may have a sad ending, then i told myself they flew in the top of the pines a while back and ended up back at the roost area by morning,so i went on in the house ,next thing i hear the chickens and guins sounding the alarms step outside to find them landing on the roof of the house so all were safe.
My new pied girly is a slick one,she spotted the gate slightly ajar while i was in the pen yesterday, she sneeked behind me and pushed the gate open and made her get away,i was able to herd her back in but it did get my blood pumping.

Ha! What a scary moment with your pied peahen! The door to the pen was a bit open one day when I was inside (we close it with a chain that hooks on the nail, and that day it was a bit lose) so my peahen Pip walked up and was sticking her neck out of the gap. She was very curious but I shooed her away. Sometimes I stand outside of the door with it open just to see what they do. It is like there is an invisible force field there they just stare but don't really try walking out. Although these moments don't last long I don't like to tempt them and I don't want one leaving...I just wanted to know if they really want to leave.

The peas are doing great.
They get around this place like none of my other birds ever have, they will be 10 acres away one minute and up on the roof of my home the next, forget trying to keep up with them like the guineas they are on their own.

They have given me a few scares but i am starting to understand them better and have gotten them to start comming when i call them to get a treat and for the first time sense they were wee peas they are following me around instead of running the other way, funny thing is my DH can walk rite past them while they are laying down and they have never batted an eye.

Master. P loves picking on the new pea hen , but pay no attention to the new male i would have thought it would be the other way around.

I found my very first eye feather, it kinda scared me at first thinking he was dropping his train but i then noticed it was broken off, i figured from the move to here.

This feather has a weird pattern, i can't tell if the rest are this way cause i have yet to see him fan his perty tail.

The peas in the photos will be a year old in august and september so no breeding going on with them for a couple years however the new pied hen is 3 and i was told the male was 18 months so i am not sure cause he has a small train.

The hen was in with an adult male before i got her and had been bred but she has yet to lay any eggs . so i guess we will see what happens.
