Oh, that is one of the sweetst pics I have ever seen. I hope my dogs will be that sweet with my chicks... I doubt it... they are cavaliers.. hunting dogs!!!!

Cute chicks and what a GREAT dog!!!!

My dog has small animal prey drive (cats, invading raccoons, etc.). However, didn't even notice the neighbors chickens at our last house. Their chickens were always hopping their fence and in my yard.

I have held the chicks in my hand, and let my dog sniff them. I am just so afraid that even unintentionally he will hurt them.

I had my chicks outside for a short jaunt, and told the dog to leave it. He was just watching them, but then the chicks got closer. My dog would not look at them, just turned his head. The chicks got even closer, and he slowly slunk away.

Like the other poster's dog he was trying to be good!!!!

How sweet!!! My beagle would eat my chicks in a heartbeat (probably even the rooster) so mine can never meet that way.

But my Chihuahua loves to come in the chicken run with me. Unfortunately, my 9 week old chicks are bigger than he is and don't take too kindly to a stranger in their coop. They chase his tail every time. He's more afraid of them than they are of him! lol

Sweet pics. My 'baby' chicks are also 3 weeks now, and no longer adorable fluff butts. They are still sweet to me though!

My golden has been fascinated with the chicks since I brough them home. She did kill one that got out of the brooder but I think it was an accident.
The chicks are about 5-6 weeks old now and fully feathered. It is 69 degrees and sunny here (finally) so the chicks are outside. They don't seem to be enjoying the extra space

Awwww...very sweet picture...brought a lump to my throat thinking about my own golden boy. That's how he was (RIP Bear) with the girls. While my female is very trustworthy around the chicks and chickens, she's not maternal at all, and doesn't like them milling around her and "pestering" her

Here's my guy back when my original gang were "teens." Dixie is my most assertive bird, and doesn't hesitate to jump on shoulders or backs (if you're bending over). As chicks, they would always pull and peck at his fur. I think with goldens, it must look like straw/hay????

Lyla is my first golden. I have never had a dog before who was so completely and utterly overjoyed just to be near her people. She is only 5 1/2...and her sister is 3 1/2. But I can't imagine what life would be like without them anymore.

Brrrr...too cold still in CT to put the peeps outside. In a couple of weeks I will probably cart them back and forth from house to pen in the cat carrier.... bring them in at night Kind of a pain...but they sure become friendly!

Funny chicken riding the dog! Lyla stopped allowing that when they got to be about 5 pounds. I think their claws pinched her! She very gently reached around and gave them the shove. They do still pick at her fur and she doesn't mind. Maybe once in a while they find a bug? Who knows? My dogs roll in anything gross in the woods they can find!
