The perfect blue egg?

The egg on the left is not pure white, BTW - kinda pinkish tinge. That was her first egg.

Very similar idea as my own. I have a pen of white leghorn pullets.. Just need a good blue egg gene rooster to cover them.

You might try putting out a wanted ad on your local CL, Facebook, etc. You might be surprised at who is breeding what in a derivable radius from you. True Ameraucana are getting more available, and this time of year a lot of folks are culling cockerels from spring hatches. Or maybe other lines of CCL, or even a Whiting True Blue could be available.

To get a good egg color, have some conversations with the seller. Get pics of their birds. What colors are the birds? They should have pics of eggs from their flock to give you an idea of egg color.

Agreed. I was able to aqcuire three true Ameraucana cockerels (Black, Blue, and Lavender) over the course of about three weeks this year. As soon as I decided I wanted them, I had them. One person even drove all the way from San Francisco to deliver the cockerel to me - he has ended being my favorite. Cockbirds are always available - always.

I went crazy on Craigslist today and found a trio of cream legbars. =) Found a nice ameracauna roo a couple hours from me.. Considering him as well. Thanks for the suggestions y'all!
