The Pita Pinta Asturiana

I have a pip in one of the Pita Pinta eggs. It is about 6 hours behind the first Del egg to pip.

I will have pita pinta chicks again soon!

More proof that Pitas are awesome.

This Pita girl just watched over these 18 chicks for about an hour without incident. She didn't really talk to them like a mom would. But she watched them and tolerated them coming up to her and running around her. She seemed to be interested in them but no aggressive or assertive behavior at all.

Of course this is the same girl that at 13 weeks was trying to mother the week old chicks in the yard. She is the most calm one of a calm lot of Pita girls. I was displaying chicks for an Easter Egg hunt activity. The kids got to hold and pet the chicks (also had some 7 week old ones to show) and brought along one of my Pita hens to show and let them pet. She is my best hands on girl.

Its great when the chicks are friendly like Pitas. Buffs and Delawares can be. Samantha (the hen) was just fantastic calm with the chicks and the people.
