The Pita Pinta Asturiana

Pics
My youngest group of incubator hatched chicks (3 Pita Pintas and 1 Who's your mama/Who's your daddy chick) are 10 weeks old today. I can't believe that I've had my incubators turned off for that length of time! Of course, I do have 2 broody mamas running around the backyard and they each have 3 Pita Pinta chicks.

Here is a pic of the 4 roosting for the night:

How about the combs on the 3 cockerels?! I feel sorry for the one little girl.

They are so cute!

The boy on the left has a very nice comb. The boy on the right is missing some points or else I cannot see them.

Very nice and lots of white too. Since processing is tomorrow Im really struggling with letting both boys go we will have to talk tomorrow and see if there is a reason for me to keep one.

He has the points but his comb leans a little to the left side so you can't see them in this photo. He of course is the biggest and nicest of the two but is probably slated for the dinner table. I have a slightly older cockerel who has the most white of any of the cockerels that I have hatched. If he continues to develop like he has up to this point, I will probably use him for breeding this next year. We are processing cockerels at the farm tomorrow and I have to decide who lives and who dies. I think that I would rather eviscerate than make that decision.

It is a hard decision and I totally understand. You know how hard it is for me to decide whether to keep them or not. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow.

I totally recommend visiting Asturias if you have the oportunity!! You are very welcomed to give me a call and visit my animals.
Yes, the roxas are very beautiful too, hard to breed as many of the chicks tend to go too white.
Regards

Thanks for the information and invite!

How bad is a bit of rust in the hackle(neck) feathers of a Cockerel?
