The Pita Pinta Asturiana

He is thinking about it or I should say planning for it! He has been working for UC Santa Cruz for almost 9 1/2 yr now. He needs to work until Jan 1 in order to get certain benefits. He needs both knees replaced so he is trying to figure out the best way to get those done before he retires. He commutes home to Antioch on Friday afternoon and then leaves for work on Monday morning. It would be double the commute if we move before he retires.
I have 21 years in here at UC Davis. The sweet spot for me is when I turn 60 in 2020. I will likely stay on until October of that year since it will kick me into the next year once sick leave hours are added to my service years. If all stays the same, I will have 8 months of sick leave then.

My Wife's uncle had both knees replaced at the same time. That was a big mistake! We get to keep health insurance when we retire and at 65 it can be converted to supplemental Medicare.

That's why DH needs to work until next Jan so he can keep his health insurance. Then we'll just have to figure out coverage for me and 16 yr old daughter.

It is funny how things go! Just after we posted about this, I received and email from HR with an announcement for a session on health insurance after you retire.

How weird!

Here we have a Heath Care Facilitator Program

Funny!!! I wonder if UCSC has that program. I'll have to ask DH to check it out!

This has probably been posted before but it is a great resource when troubleshooting poor hatches. Egg fertility has gone up with Pedro and his girls but it is only at about 75% aInd only about 50% of those actually hatch. They are dying at different stages of development and also dying at the final stages. Some even pip or start to zip and then die. I am really hoping that some of the problems are incubation issues although maybe not because I hatched 15 Delaware out of 17 set for hatch eggs for Chris at the same time as my Pita PInta. It may be signs of inbreeding or perhaps the older age of the hens is factoring in. I cu rrently have 3 more hatches going and eggs under some broodies. I'll report back how they go.

Different breeds respond to the humidity differently though so I wouldnt chalk it all up to the small gene pool.
What I will try is a cool down cycle of an hour this time and I misting them too.

From the eggs I hatched from Chris, air cell development was a bit slow. Also, Pita eggs can be large and it is harder to hatch Jumbo eggs.

Added: If I get some eggs from @PetRock to hatch that is....

I would happy to give you eggs, Ron! I have an extremely busy 2 weeks ahead of me. I am directing a group of kids who will be performing A Midummer Night's Dream May 12 & 13 so no time to get the eggs to you until after that.
