The Pita Pinta Asturiana

Pics
Ok. Set 24.
18 pp
6 trinkets baby.

1tb was blood ringed.
3pp were clear.

Not bad.lots of jumping babies in there. I have a pp hen that was laying more frequently than 24 hours for a bit. Winder if those were the clear?
Is your Pita Pinta boy the daddy of Trinket's Baby's babies? I'm looking forward to seeing pics of them after they hatch!

And here are some pics of the 2 1/2-3 week old chicks that just went out into my Quail 1 brooder.

The chick in the middle is one of my favorites and I'm pretty sure is is a he. He has only a small amount of black on him and his head is completely white. I need to mark him so I can keep an eye on his development.
Why is it that the favorites alway turn out to be roos... Nice looking bunch!

@Flowers of Abba - what breed(s) is Trinket? You've mentioned her a few times but I cant seem to remember.

Trinket's Baby's babies are pp roo.

Her mom is fbcm x cl ( Orlando I believe) daddy pp.

Is that right @petrock ?
My Trinket has feathered legs so she does have Marans in her background. On her father's side, her grandfather is chiqitas CL roo Orlando and her grandmother must have been one of chiqitas Marans mix EEs. Based on her markings, I think that her mother is a barred rock that suddenly appeared and joined the farm flock. She looked identical to a barred rock chick after she hatched. She hatched with my first group of Pita Pinta and my Pita Pinta rooster Zorro is the daddy of her baby. Trinket 1 lays beautiful green eggs and I'm assuming that Trinket 2 must lay a little more olive color of egg since she is half Pita Pinta. I can hardly wait to see what Trinket 2's babies look like, They will be 3/4 Pita Pinta.

Mine love to eat from my hand and seem vaguely offended when I put things on the ground rather than hand feeding, but they still won't eat their healthy greens! They are young, so I thought the chard might be too tough, but even steamed caused them to turn up their noses. My cat, meanwhile, loves greens so much that he will eat them until he throws up if I don't intervene. Sigh.

chop it small and mix in some yogurt.

Yogurt! That is a great idea - I heard they like yogurt. Thanks. My food coop was actually selling small flats of young chard plants, so I brought one home for the girls, and Odile actually took a couple of bites, so that was exciting for all of us. Odette is still suspicious.

I wish I'd had my camera today -- the girls took a chicken nap with Odette using Odile's wing as a pillow. So cute.

5 pitas from Debi and 4 CLB that came from Pine Creek Poultry. Pitas are so friendly you can call them to you and the CLB are starting to follow suit.
