The Pita Pinta Asturiana

They were not so sure about my phone. They are in the top of a double decker brooder so they are used to me opening the door to feed them and hold them. But the phone was something new. That's why they are sticking their necks way out! As soon as I put the phone away, they were back to eating and socializing with me. Funny birds!

This variety is not supposed to. There is a red mottled variety but I don't think that there are any of them here in the US. There is also black and white. They do get more black as they mature to adulthood and then more white after they molt.

Hi Deb,
I haven't been on the boards for a very long time and pretty much don't have chickens anymore except for the quad of your Pita Pintas and a very lovely BCM young lady. Do you need my rooster ?
Since my son Aaron moved to Nevada last year and is getting married & will be living there I lost my outside help and can no longer care for my yard or my critters so I have little left. My PPs are right here next to the house and my husband has been keeping them fed and watered for me.
Jules still comes from Madera for regular visits which I thoroughly enjoy but I mostly keep myself happily busy doing crafts at my chair inside. I have a good life with my here with my daughter's family right next door and am grateful I still have an active mind....LOL

Hi, Karen! Thank you for the offer but I do have 4 or 5 boys at the farm as well as the almost 1 yr old one here in town. And there are at least 10 boys in the 26 chicks that I have in the brooder. I'm not lacking for boys! I just miss my first rooster and his fertility! I'm hoping that Pedro is just young and his fertility will go up or his pickiness will go down! I've spent some time watching him and his girls are really good at getting away from him even though they are in a breeding pen. Maybe he just gives up and goes for the ones that don't run! LOL!

I am very happy that you have the Pita Pintas! They are one breed that I would keep last too.

I am hatching a combination of Pita Pinta and Delaware eggs for the Easter Hatch a long. Today is day 8(7 to some) and the eggs are doing nicely! I moved 4 eggs to a questionable group in the incubator but the rest are developing. Three Pita Pinta eggs and one Delaware, 3 clears and one blood ring.

This is the same egg candled from the top and then the bottom

And now a video
