The Pita Pinta Asturiana

I am giving up on my PP. Rooster shoots blanks 90% of the time, one hen died at 1.5 years of a tumor, chicks are sickly and die or don't make it out of the egg. Adios, PP! You were great layers! Too many sad endings.

I think my original hatch from 14 eggs (and 90% of my Marans hatched that same time, same incubator) 3? 4? years ago was 4 boys, 2 girls. Then I hatched 2 more females, kept the only dude without a crooked keel. Having set 8 batches of eggs over the past two years now, getting just 2 more females, many chicks at point of hatch that didn't make it, and 90% infertile eggs, I give up. They are AWESOME layers, and nice birds, but no can do anymore. So sad.

If I win the lottery this weekend, I will work on getting more imported....It is a very thin gene pool.

Chris was getting good fertility this year. I hatched a bunch for him
