wow! Your Pitas are beautiful! I've just extended my small flock with 3 Pita Pintas. The breeder tells me they are 3 months old. They're in quarantine at the moment, but I'm definitely going to wait untill they're bigger before putting them in with my orpingtons and cochins. They look so tiny in comparison!
how old were they in your photo? I'm trying to compare mine with yours. The breeder told me mine are 3 months old, but they seem so small although they do have their adult feathers...Thank you. They are much bigger now. Let's see pictures of your pita s
The chicks start out white with splotches like that and then go to mostly black with white mottling at their juvenile molt.@h2oratt here are the promised photos

Hi PetRock, I am in Spain, but not Asturias, which is the Atlantic coast in the north, I live near the Mediterranean on the Costa Blanca, Alicante region of Communidad Valencia, in the South. I have just extended my small flock with 3 Pita Pintas pullets, who are around 3 months or younger. (I think the breeder got his hatching dates mixed up as they are much smaller and look younger than photos of 3 month olds) I am on a steep learning curve and am researching as much as I can about these beautiful birds, reading up on Spanish as well as English articles. I'm really pleased I've found this thread. And if I find anything about Pitas here in Spain I'll let you guys know...Every so often, I search the internet for more information on Pita Pinta. I sure wish that I could at least read Spanish! I found a page with several videos and one is a school unit on Pita Pinta. It is so cute!
