Storms has knocked out the power twice in the last couple days so the 40 Silver Penciled Rock eggs I have in the incubator may be affected. Tuesday will be day 10 and I plan to candle them so I am keeping my fingers crossed. :)
My four Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock chicks have outgrown their inside box and will go to the outside brooder tomorrow. My guess right now is 2 male chicks & 2 female chicks. :)

If the power was only out for a short time they will be fine. Might be a little later than expected but should not kill them. I have had power off over night and 8hrs and still had good hatches.

Hi Donna, the first time it was out around 8 hours and the second time it was out around 5 hours so I am hoping for the best. :)

So they might be a day late.  I wouldn't toss any unless you are SURE.

I will keep the incubator running and check them tomorrow then again on day 16. :)

Great thread I figured I'd join in I don't know a lot about show genes or anything like that I just love rocks right know I just have barred rocks but I plan to add some partridge whites and silver penciled. Here is my rooster and one of my hens.

Glad you like your Rocks. I don't know what "show genes" are, but while your birds look healthy and well cared for they are not representative of good Plymouth Rock type or barring.

This thread is dedicated to encouraging folks in breeding Plymouth Rocks, of all varieties, to the Standard established for the breed. This means striving for proper feathering, but so much more. Proper size and weight, shape, contours, head, combs, tails and all the rest, to be high quality examples of the breed, and thus preserve the breed in its proper presentation for generations yet to come.

A BR x BR would never throw a yellow chick, would they? Because I only have one brown egg layer in my flock, and its my BR hen...and the one BR rooster, yet the egg I just hatched from them both is a yellow chick.
