Thank you. These are Dick Horstman line. I'm excited to see how the pullet do at the Fall shows. The males probably won't do well until Spring, if then. Thanks for the comments.

It's true that you never know. There are so many factors that effect which bird wins, like the competition it has and even the judges opinion. I have entered that cock bird in several shows. He didn't place at all in most of them, but he won Best of Breed at one show and then at the next he won the whole show! The judge that picked him as show winner said he preferred the Rocks to be a little more slender and to have a good tail. You just never know. Sometimes the shows are about the poultry and you're prepping of them to look their best. Sometimes, the fair type shows are more about the young people and their husbandry and handling skills. I'd enter that older cockbird, if you've a mind to. You can learn a lot from the critiques of the bird from the judge who handles them and gives them the once over.
Oh, I should have known. lolBreeding. This thread is primarily a breeding thread. Love to hear what your plans include.
I would encourage you to look at bantams from Kraig Shafer.....he has some of the finest I've seen AND wins regularly at shows with themOh, I should have known. lol
I won't start breeding until the Spring, most likely. By then I'll have a better idea of which hens to keep. I'll be getting some advice as this will be my first time picking out breeding pairs. In the past I only had a trio, so there wasn't a choice involved. My trio never actually produced any chicks for me. They would all die in the shell. I gave up and ordered some more chicks from Mr. Horstman this Spring. Hopefully, with some new blood I will be able to raise some next year.
Pretty sure he is in Ohio....I will PM you his email addressI'll look for him online. Where does he live?
