The Plymouth Rock Breeders thread

Raising these two varieties side by side this year has been a thrill and wildly educational. I believe that time marking the achievements of the Whites will give me a goal to shoot for in the Barreds.

.
I think that's a good plan. Whites are a very good benchmark for all other Rock varieties. I will be watching the maturing time line of males very closely.

6 BR chicks out with their broody mama this morning. So glad it's finally Spring!

You need to get eggs or chicks from me!!! LOL :D He's not purebred. I'd not use him in any breeding program. Here's the grand sires of some of our birds. This might give you something to study and compare what a quality, bred to the Standard Barred Rock should be. Welcome to the thread. Hopefully this thread will whet your appetite for high quality birds. Again, welcome.
WOW! theres so much bar im cross eyed.. he is a beuty

3 weeks old and the chicks only now are starting to get feathers in other places besides the wings. Is this slower than normal or typical for BR.

Well, the brooder house is finally chirping.

Sounds normal now. Got a couple of mad scientist’s projects going alongside the normal white and barred hatches (don’t ask). I could cull these for size right out of the hatcher. Of course, I wouldn’t have any of those chicks if I did. A dual purpose breed should have a head start over the egg layers at hatch and these don’t so size got put on the "things to watch" list at just 1 day old. This is where I would normally start culling.

Hi everyone! I love the pics on this thread! I'm looking for some nice BR hatching eggs and someone told me I should look here. If anyone has eggs available could you pm me a price and pics. Thanks
