This is but a temporary blast, reaching quite far south, from TX to GA. Supposed to be back into the 50's by the weekend, which is balmy for us. But sure enough. Winter is coming for certain.

No outside time makes them grumpy, but unless I plow paths for the birds to migrate to pine trees where the snow doesn't accumulate, as a rule, they never have liked wading through snow up to their necks. Nope. Makes for a long winter.
just the scenario that statement places in my mind I have to agree with them LOL is 49 here now with wind blowing ninety to nothing.I came in a bit ago and wished for it to be 90 already, LOL I don't like "nothing" cold but my ice cream and sweet tea. LOL

Good day all, nice Rock pics

Callin for a deep freeze here in N Ga tonight.....24 for a low and wind is howling. Hoping it's short lived

The heat lamps will be on in the poultry house tonight. By Saturday it will be in the mid 60's which will be nice weather for the Lawrence County Poultry Club Show.

I MUST put up the plastic on the runs SOON. Very cold tonight and tomorrow night. I had to force the Exchequers in their coop. They usually roost in the run but didn't get time to put the plastic up. maybe tomorrow I will put them up BEFORE dark. Made sure most of the wee ones had new bedding for the night.

kwMississippi......Good morning. SPRs seem to be getting more and more popular of late (great news for the variety as they are in need of good breeders!!)

How long have you had them? Are you currently breeding them?

From what I can tell you have a neat looking set up there in your barn/coop.......would love to see how you have it all set-up. Can always use new ideas!!!

Hope you're having a great Friday

I had an old shed that was 12x30 with a dirt floor. I cleaned it out and sectioned it off. I have 19 pens in it. Most are around 3x6 but i have doors in the middle I can open up and have a 3x12.

I built 2 of these to put birds in to dry after I bathed them. It is 8' long 37" wide. Each pen is 32". I used 5/4 x 6 x8 deck boards and ripped them 1 3/4" each. So I got 3 boards out of each deck board. I have a couple that have a wire bottom and are split in half. I'm going to make some 4 x 8 and split in half also to use as conditioning pens.

Hi Donna
I have been talking to someone that I think can greatly help us move forward in our Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks. He has agreed to sale me some eggs come Spring. I also told him that I would gladly send him egg or chicks in return.
