If you are fighting it, you will see brassiness in the shoulders/hackles/saddles of your columbian patterned birds
Yes this area is also know as the pyle zone/area it is where the (autosomal=automatically zoned))reds want to naturally come through and without the proper inhibitors will for sure rear they ugly head. Do you ever notice you hardly never see a brassy pullet? its because the brassiness tends to show up on the male sex feathers mostly they are 90% located in the pyle area(hackles, saddles, wing bars and wing bows) So funny how it(brassiness) doesn't effect the secondary flights(which are red on a pyle) so much or the tail sickles One of the studies I intend to research some day, on how it mostly is the sex feathers and they are for sure of a difference in style/make-up than body plumage(hen feathers)

Hackle on this female is a tad too high (goes too far up the neck) BUT her hackle is much darker than the other pix posted (a real plus!!) The mossiness in her back is an indication she is a little overly dark in undercolor...also not a bad thing as it is VERY hard to darken if you ever get it too light

I would use her as a female from which I would expect well marked males...female offspring will likely be a tad dark, perhaps mossy backed
