Well, since I bred this bird that Jill has, I'll critique her a bit.

First, at 16 weeks, she isn't done yet. She's got another good moult to go through and it should dramatically tighten up her skirts. Her head and neck are pleasing, her yellow legs are a knock-out. Barring is good, steady. The wing carriage is just about what you want to see, the back is hard to judge from this photo as she looks to be "on guard" so her back isn't as "ridged" as it may appear, as you can see from other poses.

Her tail will come in last. Her bottom line is still girlie at this point and as she matures, we hope see it fill out nicely.

She's a sweetie, I'm sure. She looks great, Jill.

Jill, the cockerels, as you know, as slow to develop. However, put a band mark on the runt, the slowest grower, if you have a runt.

I'd like to see the other cockerels. While this one has a nice tail coming in, I do not care for this boy's wing, to be honest. Interested in seeing the others.

I was noticing that in the pictures as well. This guy also has an sprig in his comb. I'll try to get pics of the other two tonight.

Pointing. I wanna see THIS guy lurking back there, up close and personal!!!

that male with the arrow pointing looks like he may have that "umph" factor

I think that may be my "runt." Smallest of the cockerels still, but definitely not runty anymore. He's certainly the fastest maturing. Not crowing yet, but always off chasing my laying hens around so he's hard to get a photo of. The other two aren't really interested yet. At least he's got machismo.

My only concern about him (besides the runtiness) was that he also had a few seizures as a chick. A few days of vitamins in his water seemed to clear it up, or perhaps he simply out-grew it. Not sure how much of an concern that would be breeding-wise, if it's hereditary or not.

Will get closer photos asap.

(you guys are killin' me with all these uber yellow legs...if I EVER ever ever have them on my SPR, or see someone elsewhere with them, I will die a happy woman.)

I experienced the same with some of my BR cockerels and held off judging them too till way after the 16 wk mark. I say don't go by that wing split yet till they are done molting. It can, look deceiving tho. Those even/crisp barred feathers esp the flights and tails are so sloooow to replace and will make for some eyesores for a while, almost makes one want to help them out in some way or some form to get on with it LOL IMO & J/S g'day

Wynette, we didn't tell you? We got a guy off the County road striping crew and he drops off the No Passing Zone paint for us. We paint all the bird's legs. We'll tell him to order some for you. Gotcha covered.
