Hey, Dahilisgrams, I am gonna need a few of those back.

Jeff, The XW/GSBR cockerels are often very, very light. Of the cockerels shown, the all look to be pure XW/GSBR. Of the pullets shown, 5 are pure XW/GSBR and two look to be MaineX pullets.

edit: I wasn't sure if each frame was a unique bird or not. My count may be off.

For barring, this may be the poorest pullet. She really shows that White Rock outcross a few gens back. The WhiteRock outcross can muddy the barring, it's a fact. She'll probably feathered the fastest of all of them, will have awesome type and lay up a storm, but she' not a pretty barred bird.

This is good looking youngster. You simply cannot judge these boys early. They fill out so much later on.

If this is a different cockerel, the same can be said.

Again, give these boys lots of time. However, I do like this long back look and the tail angle, for his age.

This is a nice pullet.

Another really nice pullet

Really like this girl. Look at that wide head.

Very nice pullet. Nice poise for a young one.

No complaints here.

While she look tall right now? When they fill out, they often look much lower to the ground and more "matronly" I guess you'd call it. The camera also looks to have caught her in a funny stride. But, she's downright wonderful.

Here are a few more.

The girl above has awesome qualities, but her barring betrays her MaineX background. She's a nice looking pullet though. Put her back under a tight barred XW and she'd throw some really nice chicks. Or just put her in a laying flock.

This is just a funny camera capture. She's really marked well. You just cannot get them to pose for the camera, that's understood.

Yeah I raised up 6 of those GSBRs from Mrs.Kathy I still have 3 I had a couple to be lighter than the other 4 but these here(posted) look lighter still yet.
Like the one you had posted a few weeks back light with almost silver and blue barring. I would love to have a light light male like those for a future project I have in mind, now that I have some those most awesome halfbreed NHs from Jeremy. I see another new line of Delawares in the near future. I have a lighter male F2 from Kathys del project but he just is too non-typical to use for me. J/s now back to our regular scheduled Rock program. I have 5 Matt1616 BR hens about halfway through molt they almost or probly still do look as good as they did their pullet year I'm very impressed at their youthful presence, this is what one looks for in brood stock is for hens to carry on that pullet look for years on end. Maybe I can get some pics of these gals when they ever get all their attire back together and get their dignity(rumps) all covered back up. LOL

I have two groups of Rocks growing out. The youngest group came as chicks directly from Jeremy and they are now about 6 weeks old and look like half naked dinosaurs. The others I hatched this past Spring from eggs that came from Fred's Hens flock. These are photos of some of the Rocks hatched from Fred's eggs and they are 14.5 and 20 weeks old in these photos. They normally free range during the day but there is work going on that involves chain saws and other loud scary things so for their safety they remain locked up in the pens surrounding their coops. They really aren't pleased about being locked up either. They're awful photos and I fought with the camera the entire time, so please forgive the quality. It needs replacing but just hasn't been a priority. Anyway, there are only two cockerels from these hatches and one I like a lot better than the other. I am pretty sure that I did not get photos of all the pullets. Some were more frightened of the work noises than the others. The oldest cockerel is the one depicted here. He is brave and seems to have a good attitude so far. I have not yet marked any of them but I can at any time.

I would love to hear honest opinions on these birds. I am planning to create two families and want to keep only the best for breeding, even if that means only two. Thanks to both Fred and Jeremy for helping me get started and for the excellent advice. I really appreciate it.

It's so enjoyable to see photos that y'all post of your flocks. Some of the other colors are really tempting!!!!!

You got an ideal start with birds from Jeremy and Fred!!!
No doubt, it makes for more of a challenge to choose your breeders

These as you know mature s-l-o-w-l-y...got plenty of time to study your 2 groups, providing you have the space to carry on.
Thanks for sharing...so hard to photograph birds. We all know this to be so true
