Oh, for sure. I've seen you're a member of most all of them, have seen your posts over on showbidbird, too. There are some great breeders on that site, as well.
yeah the showguys over there just barely would acknowledge Bob too, good luck getting much outta them. I don't visit those guys anymore some of their chickens poo poo's doesn't seem to have an odor to it LOL

Clayton I do wish you well in your endeavors, sir.

Would do you well to learn correct poultry jargon though you will go further in your quest. and yes everyone is entitled to their own opinions too. I only was trying to help from experiences is all. thanks I'm glad you disagree, a lot do, so you're not alone in that one.

good day

Wynette, You and Bob was on the same page on the breeding advice of my Horstman cockerel. :)

Here is one of the messages he sent me on how I should breed my SPPRs.

" That's a good idea. The color should follow Type in these colors have been small short in back bad tails. This male has balance so he has very good type. Try to fix his type over two to three years then work to improve it over the next three years. Heck good rock type in barred are not all that hot. When you cross the Padgett to Horstmam you may end up with weird stuff. You might want to take the best half and half's then mate it back to your good male from Horstman down the road or his sons and just have a touch of their good traits. Such as maybe size, head points ect. Who knows

You will figure it out. bob"

I ment no disrespect to you Jeff. It is just that I am a far better talker than a writer. I am trying to breed poultry not write a book. After many years of breeding poultry I may come close to being a breeder but I know there are not enough years in my life to ever become a writer "not even on BYC". :)

There is an APA judge who lives not too far from me. He came over to my place last week to help me go over some birds. I asked him did he know Bob Blosl and did he know he just died. I thought the guy was going to break out in tears. His family is in Alabama, too, and he knew Bob well. Told me Bob was a really good human being.

You really shouldn't disparage "show guys" so much. And most if not all the ones that have been around a while, especially around Rocks and Reds knew and thought the world of Bob, there was a PNPA show up here the weekend right after he passed, and a lot of kind words and damp eyes amongst the old timers up here (he started out with the Chehalis gang, not many of them left, Jim Volk, Tom Durgin, think that's about it, both those guys are great Rock men too).

Good advice in learning correct poultry terms though. A lot of guys have seen so many bright eyes bushy tailed newcomers that are gonna set the world on fire come in, and then leave just as quickly. Learning the right terms at least shows a little dedication and interest.

I agree and I will be more careful on how I word things as I write. I have been around poultry & have studied the Standard for as long as I can remember but I don't have that much experience when it comes to showing poultry. As where I live in Tennessee there just are not that many poultry shows at all. But I plan to start going to as many poultry shows as possible and talking to the breeders and learning the terms more correctly.
I can see now where I made the cushion term mistake. When I look at my Standard on page 15 figure 4 the Nomenclature of Female I see #24 is Cushion. But this drawing is of a Wyandotte and a Female Wyandotte has a slightly rounded cushion. If this was a drawing of a Plymouth Rock there would be no #24 "cushion". Well I learned something today, the hard way but at least I learned something. :)

You seem to be doing really well so far. Never stop learning, I'm looking forward to see what you produce next year. Keep the same attention to detail I've seen you exhibit so far and you'll do really well.

Silver Rock....I had no idea you were in TN and not that far either! there is a middle TN thread you may want to join in with us. I have blue black barred and blue barred partridge and silver pencilled rocks....I think that it is it lol.

Hi DMRippy
Thank you for the invite. I would like to join the middle TN thread very much. There are two poultry shows coming up in Tennessee. One show is next weekend 11-16-2013 right here in Lawrenceburg TN. It is a small show with majority bantams being shown. I will be there taking in as much knowledge as I can. :) The other show is in Knoxville, TN 12-7&8-2013 it is a larger show and will be hosting the ABA National. I am very much looking forward to going to this show as Danny Padgett will be one of the judge's and I am looking forward to meeting him in person. I would like to meet you at one of these shows also.
