I haven't read the whole thread so maybe this has already been answered.
If I breed a Silver Penciled Rock rooster to a Partridge Rock hen, will the chicks be sex linked?

5 week old chicks and I'm already judging them. It is a sick disease.

Look at the chick top right. Nice wide tail and leg set.
Look at the chick bottom right. Nice head, wing set and just love the little bowl shape.
If you don't love Rock chicks, you probably don't like Rocks.

You've got to be ecstatic with what's hatching so far.
Fred you crack me up.....BUT, I'm doin' the same thing. I noticed exactly the same 2 things you did. Another thing I'm seeing is long backs. Problem is that several look rainy day, but I hope its way too soon to judge that

Dottie is working up to broody again. This time, if she sits tight, I'm getting eggs from an outside source, not my own flock, except maybe one or two of Dottie's own eggs (sired by Rex, her 1/2 Dellie 1/2 Stukel BR nephew in my avatar) since that chick would be 3/4 Stukel BR. Just want to see what it would look like. Will get a hatching egg mix of heritage BR and that good old fashioned Rhode Island Red stock I used to have, if it's available from my source. Nothing is wrong with my own birds, but I don't have a pure BR rooster and hatching crosses isn't getting us back to where we want to go. Since I've lost two older hens within the last few weeks, I guess my older stock is beginning to die off and we want to replace with what we really love.

Dottie, who will turn 3 years old April 6.

Dottie's daughter, Druscilla. She's over 2 years old now, I think. She is out of the original Rex, not the one in my avatar.

Cyn, I sure wish my Rocks had the broody tendency you seem to get with those Stukel birds...nothing like a good mama to raise a clutch of chicks
Hope you and Tom are well

We're hanging in there. Tom's dad is terminal, but my almost 93 year old dad seems to be going pretty strong.

Dottie is the only one of those older three that has gone broody and Druscilla hasn't yet, but she was clucking a bit last week so she still may. They sure are large enough to cover quite a few eggs! And they are fierce enough to protect the chicks, too. Dottie was a great mama last time.
