ok I snapped a couple pics of two diffrent cockerels. This cockerel is the one I showed a few minutes ago . I bred him to a couple long females hopefully the hen and pullet he's bred of will stretch the off spring a little
here is a better shot of the cockerl I posted. The other day . Thsi sixth degree weather has him showing himself foday. He's gonna b around here for a long time . Riis is the best cockerel I have raised this far in four year
Looks good, very sturdy, similar to my Duckworth line BR, but you have that beautiful topline and tail. Is that the appropriate size for the comb? I know it's not suppose to be large. I forget the exact language in the SOP. Thanks.
Keep in mind comb size can be affected by local climate. Since it aids in the regulation of heat it is quite common for birds in the south to have combs larger than their northern counterparts
How can I get in contact with a good true barred rock breeder in Tennessee.. I'm sure there are some people on this forum? I'm looking for laying hens only but want the true Plymouth Rock blood from a credible source, not a mutt from a hatchery.. I'm not going to be showing them just using them for eggs and maybe breeding in a couple of years to potentially sell.. Not wanting to make any money just wanting to preserve a good breed.. I'm also interested in Orpingtons and Ameraucana's..
Please email pm me if you know of trustworthy breeders in west or middle Tennessee that wouldn't take advantage of a newbie.
