My birds occasionally have a range of poos but it almost always returns to normal. One of my prettiest turkeys had blood in his poo ocassionally since he was a little chick but he lived to be a big ol' tom and is still healthy as pie. Because i raise my birds organically I avoid over-chemicalizing them with wormers and antibiotics and such. No offense to anyone, just the way I prefer to raise them. I kept a close eye on him from the day he was born (hand-raised him with his turkey buddy) so I tracked it pretty closely. His buddy's poo was always normal even though they shared close living quarters. Just saying that so that folks know there CAN be a range of poo.

BTW, the1much, is that a pic of YOU in your avatar?

Thanks for the poop post, very informative!
Never knew the nasty ones (cecal) actually had a name.
I call them greasers.
My hens like to deposit them right in front of my door every once in a while. Chicken humor?

Greasers is a good name. If they dry forget about it. I have had a high powered jet hose on those things and they don't budge. They just won't come off. They are usually right on the deck as you go out the door. Too funny!

"Love your doo!" takes on a new meaning here!
Jennspeeps, thanks for a really relieving (no pun intended) description!

...now I won't have to write in to "Dear Abby"

or search Wikipedia for a poultry poo page.

Update on the kitty: today I saw our BSL chase him across the yard. He was not happy with that firmly wee chick!

The BSL also chased our other cat around the yard. Poor kitties!!

I had a chick at 4 weeks it would seek out the cats just to pester them. Funniest thing, it Loooved getting a reaction out of the cat and it would run after them, with the panicked cat running away, looking backward at the "scary" chick.

Our chickens also chase our young cats across the yard, which I think is payback big time from when the kitties used to stir things up just for fun...looks like it backfired!
