The Price of Chicken Feed

Quote:
Are you kidding me? Avg. to OVER 200lbs of feed every two weeks? Unless you have like 500+ adult birds, I can't imagine them going through all that in two weeks!!!

Wow!!!

AAAHH I'm paying 15 dollars for 50 lbs of layer crumble. Where do you get it so cheap!?

ETA My chickens eat 100 lbs in 20 days. I can't afford it and I'm hardly making money from my egg business!

That's a good price on the manna pro. here in La. the equiv. Lone Star nutri-boost is $16.something for 40lbs.
50#layer pellets $9.85
50# scratch $ 8.85
50#whole oats $9.95
50#whole corn $6.95

and I can barely squeeze $ 2.00/doz. out of these red necks around here.
It just barely pays for the hen feed and not the hobby part, you know all the purty purties that some how keep adding to the mix.

Oh, well, just keep plugging away, something will give sooner or later, I hope.

here in maine i buy the blueseal brand. 10.50 for a 50 pound bag of layer mash and 10 or 11 for 50 pounds of cracked corn. blueseal grain is the best out there in my book. right now im going thru about 35 pounds of layer feed a week . alot less in summer. i have 24 standard egg layers.
