I agree with the carpet-ripper-outer camp. It will get more gross as time goes on. Hopefully replacement all-weather carpet is not too expensive.

Wouldn't the chickens ruin the carpet??? You may want to go with tile. I mean you ARE putting chickens in there aren't you???

The carpet is all-weather carpet on concrete with no padding or subfloor. I will see how it is when it dries because the dryers out there are making the room very warm. The room is supposed to dry out in 3 days, but i don't know what to say about the water that is still leaking through the ceiling from the snow on my house.

There's also the issue of mold / mildew spores to consider, for both health and smell. They may not smell when it's dried up, but the first humid day, it could gang up again.

Thanks- I will adress this with the restoration company and with my insurance company. I do know that they sprayed anti-mold/anti-fungal stuff all over...

I would definately tear out the carpet. I'd be so worried that mold is there and down the road affect your family's health.

I agree too...We had ours down to the tile floor when we got ours redone.

Well, I called the restoration company and they said the anti-microbial is completely non-toxic and also that they felt that with the amount of saturation on the carpet, mold couldn't grow at this point and they are drying it out. I'm still sqabbling over that one.

When they took my ceiling off the water leaked farther up towards the house and was making a bigger mess so I called the adjuster and the restoration company and their solution was to tell me to shovel the rest of the snow off the roof. They thought that had been done already even though I told them multiple times that I had only shoveled the sun room off. At any rate, I shoveled the rest of tonight and it is a worse wet mess out there now than before and they said it would take about 3 days to dry. I should here from the adjuster and restoration company both in the morning. I'll update then.

Hen Happy, I may put chicks out there if they aren't finished by then, and who knows if that will happen or not! But they will be in a brooder regardless. However, I have contemplated turning my shop into another chicken coop...
