Those are the ones you gotta worry about the most! ETA: If you call just to make a report they have on file what happened. So if anything happens again you already have a report on file with the PD. It's not a bad Idea. You dont have to call to get her in trouble, just to file a report about what happened. (baha did I mention filing a report? haha it sounds so repetative!)


After an incident like that there would be padlocks on all my coops/brooder. I would be very upset. Seems like by helping you she gained the layout of your property. Watch out for The Crazies!

It is kina lonely out here in the twilight zone I thought stuff like this only happened to me it is probably just me but I would buy her a cup of coffee or make dinner for her and try to figger out the questions you have while I talked with her. The cops probably know of her and either have pegged her as a harmless old crank or no one else will press charges . There used to be a local here we called the purple lady every body was scared of her she lost her husband of like 50-60 years she took it hard she and he were fairly hard into voodoo most folks did not want to take the time to get to know her. I fixed a few things for her and we traded a few birds she was kinda a recluse but a really neat person who had lived a lot and was kina lost for a while out on the fringe sometimes someone just needs their hand held for a while and somebody to show them the way back to the living sometimes they will not come back.............. good luck

Most likely, your "Crazy Goose Lady" has a degree of Autism or other Social Interaction difficultly and really doesn't understand non-verbal clues or social conventions like "No trespassing" signs.
What this means is you should be firm and clear in your communication with her and lock up your stuff. Try to understand, but don't be a victim, if you befriend her, she will never understand your intentions.

There is a lot of undiagnosed dementia out there. I work with Sr Citizens every day and see it often. That "dotty old aunt" really has dementia of one kind or another and while it is disconcerting to have her wandering your property, she really means you no harm.

With that said, LOCK YOUR STUFF. And the kindest thing you might do for her is to report her to the police, even if you drop the charges later, because that might be what it takes to get her the help she needs.

I've got to agree here. Report her, not to cause trouble, but so there is a record on file. At least the cops will be alerted if things escalate. If it happens again, then they can stop by her house, informally, and talk to her. really, it's CYA.

Oh geeze, people are so quick to call the cops on someone...she is an old lady who is not quite all there and prob harmless.....if she keeps coming back then go ahead and call...but let the cops go after the real bad guys and not an old woman with a goose in her bra. I live in a small town also and you get to know who the eccentric people are and how to deal with them. Seems a bit exreme to be calling police over this, Im sure you can get the point across that she is Not allowed on the property without your permission.
