Got them when I was 3 for a source of healthy and garbage-free meat and grasshopper control. Started keeping a few hens for eggs a year later. When I turned 6, we had 30 chickens, and now we have 45!

I thought you had over 100 chickens?

I started out raising small animals, but I really wanted a parrot or a lizard. I always loved to watch the chickens at the county 4-H fair (at the time, small animals and chickens shared a tent). My mom still refused. Finally this boy's mom convinced her to let me have them! I thought they were beautiful, interesting animals (this was before I knew about all the breeds and colors) and I wanted eggs too.

i am not sure i saw a turtle up in the woods last year not sure what it was but it was pretty just a baby looked like someones pet
