Morning dawned over the Dark Forest Empire and Charley awoke with a yawn . He perched a momment and collected his thought then he preened his feathers to shining . Charley's mother already had everything packed and was gently waking his sisters . "We have to be out as soon as the gates open" she clucked . "Or else everyone will be missing me at work and know something is up" . Charley's mother felt no sorrow in leaving the Dark Forest Empire . She had not been hatched there and most chickens in that dark empire were cruel . With a decided nod of her head she finished tying the strings around the bundles . Then a thought that Emerald had buried for so long appeared in her mind . *Will I ever go home?* . She shook her head to try and clear her mind but she couldn't shake the idea . With a sigh Emerald gave in . "Charley, how about going to your homeland instead?" Charley looked at her in puzzlement . "We are from here mother?" Emerald shook her head . "No darling, we belong in the Green Gazing Empire ."

(Sorry I had to find a way for Oak and Charley to meet again soon:p, besides, I want him to meet Elly)

Oak slipped through the crowds ignoring the gasps of horror of the passers by. She slid through the crowds of people entering and exiting the dark forest empire. Suddenly she spotted with horror Charly! Ohmygoshohmygosh what do I do?! She looked at him and saw his family.

Charley scanned the crowds as he serched for Oak .*Mabye she used a different gate?* he thought with disappointment but then he spotted her and his eyes lit up . He gave her a slight signal with his tail feathers in hopes she would notice .

Sparrow stared at her in surprise and confusion. She narrowed her eyes. "I've been talkin' to my father about a job I could get.. he wants me to be a shopkeeper, 'cause that's what he is, and I'm the oldest. But I wanna be a blacksmith..." she looked up at Oak hopefully. "There's no way I can be a blacksmith here, too much competition and it's too expensive to start up a new business. But in the Green Gazing Empire.. We could start anew, Oak." Her eyes shone. "I'll come with you. My dad might not be pleased.. But he'll have one less mouth to feed. And I can send 'em money.." A new life! She thought excitedly.
