The Quizzical Chicks - Barnevelders or Partridge Rocks?

No. From a Maryland breeder. I can see why you had trouble through the weeks trying to identify yours. The feathering changes week to week up to about 18 weeks. :caf I googled so many times, me head hurt.:barnie

She's starting to get better with age LOL When comparing her to my lavender orp, bantam calico cochin and cream legbar, she's not as social. I'm hoping with time and once she starts laying, she'll do better.

AND THE RESULTS ARE IN. They are both. 3 Barnevelder pullets and 2 Partridge Rock pullets. The 2 with gold in their hackle feathers (ie necks) are Partridge Rocks. The black based are Barnevelders.

They're 16 weeks old now and last week I gave a friend 3 of them. I just randomly grabbed 3. The next day 1 laid her first egg. Here are my 2 (1 of each) showing just how different their colors are. I just introduced them into my main layer flock so no eggs yet but shouldn't be long! The Lavender Cochin grew up with them too.

Once we get eggs from them I'll post a picture.

The one on the left looks like it could be a roo. I hope it ends up being a hen.

Hi! I know this is an old thread but I wanted to know what the eggs ended up looking like. The reason is, we purchased 6 "easter eggers" from a local person who said she got them from ideal poultry. She also was selling Barnevelders. When we got them they all looked the same. When they got older (they are 9 weeks now), one is definitely mostly black with some lacing and I suspect she is a Barnevelder. One has the gold hackles and partridge coloring that yours had. The rest are partridge with black heads, no gold yet, but otherwise look just like that one. Could they be partridge rock and not easter eggers? They look nothing like other people's pictures of easter eggers.

So I'm curious, what colored eggs did your partridge rock lay?
Thanks!!
