Crowing
( Lol Thanks!!)Gid looked away from the ladies for just a moment...which turned out to be several moments. He couldn't take his eyes off the gently rolling farmland and the mysterious forest beyond, all through the wire of the fence. That wire ruined his view, and kept him trapped in here.
A hawk soured lazily over the field, and a flock of pigeons soured in from the opposite direction. He wished, not for the first time, that he had freedom like them.
In a cloud of anger, he jumped at the fence, but the wire did not give way. Again and again he tried, to no avail. Then another plan came to his mind. He started scratching eagerly at the dirt.
A farmhand approached and threw out several handfuls of corn. Gid looked between his indent in the dirt and the golden, delicious grains of corn raining onto the ground. He heard the sounds of other roosters tidbitting to the hens. He half-flew half-ran to the treat.
...
Carl flew in with the other pigeons. His wings were sore, but he didn't return to the loft. Instead, he explored around. He found a large run, with a lot of little birds in it.
Quail, I think. Let's go see if they're friendly!
He fluttered to the ground and peeked through the wire to see a gray quail sitting in the shadows of a bush. He had seen quail like this before, but not trapped in a cage.
"Hi there! What are you doing?" He asked.

Laya opened one eye to see a large pigeon outside the hutch, seemingly talking to someone, laya almost didn't realize he was talking to her," oh ....uh..hi there, I'm brooding eggs," she cooed happily
