The rehoming a rooster thread

Doubt anyone lives near me but I will give it a try.

Hi!

So a few months ago I got some little bantam pullets from a friend of a friend's farm. They are 8-9 months old now, and we have a cockerel. We, unfortunately, are not allowed roos, so I have to rehome him. I was planning on giving him back to the farm, but I texted the guy over a month ago, and he still hasn't replied. That may sound stupid, but we will be in big trouble if he crows, so we are in a bit of a hurry. I need some more options, so I would love to hear if anyone is interested!!

His name is Poppy...you can change that if you like. He is about 8 months old, and not crowing. He is some kind of spangled Hamburg bantam cross. Spangled Hamburgs are reliable layers, and are cold hardy, great for cooler regions of Victoria! Poppy has some nice hackle and saddle feathers growing, and after losing basically all of his tail, he is starting to grow some new beautiful tail feathers!! Poppy hasn't really got spurs yet, but he has a nice red comb and waddles.

Poppy is a late bloomer. He is not crowing yet, but he has started to mount my laying hen, Ebony.

Poppy is very sweet and has NEVER once shown any aggression to me. He doesn't hurt any of my ladies (only a bit of flapping to show dominance) and will tolerate short cuddles. Poppy is very alert and will warn if even a little bird flies over.

He is I think quite small since he is a bantam. He weighs a bit under 1.5kg, though I think he has some growing to do still.

I live in the southeast of Melbourne.

I will only give Poppy to a good home with enough space and people who will take good care of him. Poppy is healthy, but I would recommend quarantining him for a few weeks.

If you are interested or have any idea what I can do, it would make my day!!!!!

Thanks so much!

If anyone is remotely interested I will post more photos.

My device isn’t working, I will edit this and add photos tomorrow from my computer.

EDIT: He may have crowed today??

Roosters name: Jim Halpert, Bingo, Bluey, Buzz (can you tell we have kids?)
Breed: Jim, Buff Orpington, Bingo, buff silkie, Bluey and Buzz, splash silkies
Weight:
Age: All 4 months
Size: Jim is a standard size, the silkies are bantams
About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.): We ended up with 4 roos in our last batch of chicks. With a 2 and 4 year old running around I prefer not to keep them around. They have all been well behaved, although Jim is starting to become more defensive of his hens

Roosters name: Little Dude!
Breed: EE/Olive Egger
Weight: 2-3 lbs
Age: 6 mos
Size: 20" tall
About rooster: Sweet little dude! He's a very good boy. Treats the girls well. He grew up with them. Very good sentry. He watches over them all the time. He doesn't crow that much but I'm not suppose to have roosters in the city limits. So if he crows...he's got to go. I'd keep him if I could. Please give Little Dude a home.

I'm willing to drive up to two hours to re-home him or meet up.

About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.):

He is 100% gorgeous. The only reason we are not keeping him is because I have his brother, Chi'cho (Picture 4) and they are identical except he has a smaller comb. ( I want different bloodlines). His father was specially bred to be more relaxed/ people friendly and gentle with the hens. His mom is a white ameraucana and she is stunning. She has good bloodlines and does not take any crap from the roosters (his demeanor is more like his mom than his dad). He is a smaller bird and will probably stay small like his 2 identical brothers (around 3 lbs). If you look up Blue Wheaten Ameraucana that will show you his coloring. He is already mating with the girls so I think he would be better with girls that are already laying or are not coming into lay.

About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.): I need to rehome him because I have too many roos. He doesn't let you hold him but he will pose for pictures sometimes. He can sort of climb up walls which is why his name is ninja. HE IS NOT FOR MEAT!
