Me too!!! Love hearing about the older ladies!!!!!!

I still have 4 of my original 6. Lost one to internal laying and one turned into a mean roo.
The remaining 4 are trying to start a molt. The roo has lost weight, but is growing his feathers in, one of the ladies is molting, and two are still laying about every 3rd day, but I expect them to stop and drop their feathers anytime now.

Snow is pretty! I would like her in my flock

He is PERFECT However, he appears to not be receiving as much blueberry goodness as is required

... are you baking for him Cynthia

I shall send him more blueberry pancake mix for his christmas stocking...he does have one doesn't he?

My girls have a string of red and silver sleigh bells for each window and I just bought them a sign for their coop door

They will get lights if I get them strung with everything else going on... LOL They should enjoy the spirit of christmas too don't ya think?

Amanda is just big boned...she is not huge or an armload tsk tsk hehehehe

Gypsy looks so good with feathers I bet Zane is impressed. I really must work out a pattern for a Gypsy hat for that girl...she is a mess when she molts...not attractive for a lady of such high caliber.

Snow is gorgeous as always and Nora looks stunning!

Ike is such a handsome boy and an awesome flock leader for sure.

Do you notice if your older ladies "talk" differently?

Our elderly hen (guessing a good 6 years old, but maybe 7) clucks constantly. The cluck they make calling baby chicks, but very quietly.

She looks a little rough and goes to bed about a hour before the young chicks, but is still the roosters right hand lady (he is even older so she has no worries about him getting frisky)

I am sure glad I'm not crazy like that, with silly chickens.

By the way, Isaac is much much better than Suede. He's my man (errrr, roo) ! ! !

Me, too, Robin, me, too. I don't care if they lay another egg. My first ladies deserve their place of honor here for their years of service and fun. I'm sort of hoping that Sunny goes broody in spring. She did her first and her second years, but not since. She was an excellent broody. I'd love for her to go it again.

Suede got a cheesecake muffin containing plum jam yesterday, Ladyhawk. He was quite pleased!
